Mudflat hiking Terschelling: see, feel, experience, and discover on the floor of the UNESCO World Heritage site
Behind the dike, close to the Puur grounds on Terschelling, you experience the ultimate island feeling. Here you can look out over the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As soon as the tide goes out, the seabed reveals many secrets. It is a lively, wondrous world. Do you know the difference between lugworms and razor clams? Or how a pearl forms inside an oyster? Our mudflat hiking guide shares fun, educational, and engaging stories. We are happy to take you on a journey across the floor of the Wadden Sea.
We live according to the rhythm of nature. The tide determines when we can go mudflat hiking.

UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage
In the heart of our village Oosterend lies the Puur grounds. This is the starting point, and our location is 400 meters from the mudflats. After a five-minute walk, we are on the Wadden Sea dike. Beyond it lies a beautiful nature reserve: the UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage site, where ebb and flow play freely. We are happy to share our love for the mudflats during the Puur mudflat hiking tours. We walk with groups across the mudflats past the Wierschuur towards the duck decoys on the Boschplaat.
Our Puur mudflat hiking guides each have their own stories about nature, cultural history, birds, and/or marine life. This gives every mudflat hike a unique character. For children, watching (and feeling!) crabs is an experience; for the true island feeling, we end with an oyster tasting. Puur Terschelling offers mudflat hiking tours year-round, as every season has its own charm.
