Dark Sky Park

We are very proud that the nature reserve De Boschplaat was designated as a Dark Sky Park in 2015. As islanders, we grew up in this environment and know the magic of the night like no one else. The starry sky, even clearly visible from our Puur grounds, remains impressive.

Stargazing in the Netherlands
Bentum and Jochem have become Puur astronomers and are happy to share their knowledge with you. Many people have already visited the Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker, Friesland: the oldest (still functioning) planetarium in the world. It is no coincidence that it is a UNESCO World Heritage site! Since 2011, Puur Terschelling has organized an annual covered wagon tour during the Night of the Night, led by Adrie Warmenhoven (director of the Eise Eisinga Planetarium).

Puur Stargazing

On the Boschplaat and at the Puur grounds, we let you enjoy the wondrous world above our heads. Whenever we go out, a Puur astronomer is always with you. We offer a VR experience where information about the stars is clearly presented. In our cozy observatory, there is also a telescope, allowing you to study the sky in peace. Or would you like to lie back on the darkest experience seating and reclining bench or in the hammock? If you stay in a dune tent, you can, under the panoramic roof, watch the stars from your bed without obstruction.
