Puur Terschelling is a family-run business with a deep love and respect for animals. For many years, we have kept herds of horses and sheep. Our Friesian and Shire horses are our pride and joy. These reliable, calm horses offer people an unforgettable experience on Terschelling. A beautiful ride to the beach, a Dark Sky carriage tour—our horses love being out in nature. The herd is one big family, and that is a conscious choice. It creates a sense of calm and structure. We breed the horses ourselves and know them inside out!
Our Friesian and Shire horses graze outdoors all year round. It keeps them strong, and at the same time we fulfill our role as nature stewards. The Texel/Swifter sheep herd provides grazing on the Wadden dike and in the polder landscape. In early spring, we bring them back home; the lambs are born in the barn. On our farm, you will also meet many other animals with a high cuddle factor—from donkeys, rabbits, and guinea pigs to our Labradors.
