Waddenfonds
Puur Terschelling collaborates with the Waddenfonds, a fund dedicated to the ecology and sustainable development of the Wadden Sea region. The Waddenfonds supports initiatives from entrepreneurs, associations, foundations and government organisations that contribute to preserving nature, culture and landscape, whilst creating economic opportunities in the region. For us, this partnership means we can realise projects that both respect nature and improve the quality of our offering.
Support for sustainable projects
On 4th June 2019, Puur Terschelling received a grant from the Waddenfonds for an important project within our company. This financial support enabled us to create a suitable accommodation building for welcoming guests, educating visitors and housing trainees and staff. Additionally, the grant was used to improve our self-sufficiency in energy and water, and to develop a farm campsite. This project fully aligns with the core values of the Waddenfonds: nature conservation, sustainable recreation and strengthening local economies.
Investing in a sustainable future
The Waddenfonds grant is awarded based on advice from an external expert committee, which evaluates projects on themes such as nature, world heritage, cultural history, landscape development, sustainable recreation and making the agricultural sector more sustainable. Through this collaboration, Puur Terschelling can expand and make her activities more sustainable, whilst we offer our guests a special island experience. In this way, we contribute together to a future where the Wadden Sea region remains protected whilst being vibrant and enjoyable for everyone.
