Vocational Education Business Sector
Since the establishment of the SBB (Samenwerkingsorganisatie Beroepsonderwijs Bedrijfsleven) on 1 August 2015, education and industry have worked closely together to offer students the best practical training. For companies, this means they get skilled professionals who are well-prepared for the workplace. Puur Terschelling was already certified by Aeqor, Calibris, Ecabo and Kenwerk, organisations that now fall under SBB, and thus has years of experience in training and supervising students from secondary and higher vocational education.
Learning through experience
At Puur Terschelling, students get the chance to work in a diverse agricultural and tourism business. Depending on their field of study, they carry out varied activities, from guest experience and tourist activities to animal care and nature management. This way, students not only learn specific skills, but also become acquainted with the breadth of the business and the daily operations of a professional island enterprise.
Practice in all aspects
The placements encompass diverse disciplines: agritourism, horse keeping, sheep farming, nature management and event organisation. Students guide guests, care for animals, maintain stables and grounds, organise activities and learn to set up and execute marketing and communication projects. This broad range of practical experience optimally prepares students for their future careers and introduces them to the diversity of work in the Wadden Sea area under the guidance of the Bierema family.
