UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage
Since 2015, Puur Terschelling has been an official ambassador of the Waddenzee World Heritage Site. This recognition from UNESCO means that we actively contribute to promoting and protecting this unique natural area. The Waddenzee World Heritage flag that we are privileged to fly symbolises our commitment and responsibility.
As a Waddenzee World Heritage ambassador, we tell the story of the Waddenzee: a landscape that is constantly changing and of immeasurable value to both people and nature. We see it as our role to not only let guests enjoy themselves, but also to make them aware of the fragility and importance of this special area.
Experience the Waddenzee up close
Our Puur activities literally take you right into the heart of the Waddenzee World Heritage Site. During mudflat walking tours or Wadvaren, you'll experience what it's like to walk across the seabed of the Waddenzee, surrounded by silence, space and nature. With our covered wagon tours, outdoor rides and Dark Sky activities across the Boschplaat and Grië, we also take you to places where nature truly reigns supreme. Here you'll experience the dynamics of wind, tides and water, and discover just how special this landscape is.
Nature, experience and responsibility
At Puur Terschelling, experience and responsibility go hand in hand. Our activities are designed to respect and strengthen nature, fully in line with the values of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. We want every visitor to not only enjoy themselves, but also return home with greater understanding and respect for nature. This way, together we contribute to preserving the Waddenzee for future generations.
Caring for the landscape together
Our commitment doesn't stop at organising activities. With our sheep, we also make a practical contribution to managing the sea dyke on Terschelling. Through grazing, the landscape remains healthy and balanced. This shows how recreation and nature conservation can strengthen each other. Together with our guests, partners and nature itself, we work to preserve an area of worldwide significance.
