Polderpracht

Puur Terschelling actively contributes to the PolderPracht project, which focuses on the conservation of meadow birds in the Terschellinger Polder. By working together with farmers, cheese makers and other entrepreneurs, the project helps create a sustainable business model, where at least 20% of the land is managed in a meadow bird-friendly way. This means, for example, that these parts of the polder are only mowed after 15th June, so that birds can safely raise their chicks. Thanks to this initiative, a colourful landscape full of flowers, herbs, bees and naturally cows emerges, creating a paradise for meadow birds such as black-tailed godwit, lapwing and redshank.

Rest point and experience

As a partner of PolderPracht, Puur Terschelling also serves as a lending point for binoculars and as a rest point on the Terschellinger Polderroute. Guests can pause here, use an accessible toilet and water tap point (24/7), and enjoy the view over the bird-rich landscape. This way, a cycling trip through the polder becomes not only a sporting activity, but also an educational and relaxing experience where visitors can experience nature up close and fully experience the circle of sustainability, nature and locally produced products.
